| In memory
Every quilt has a story and the MacFarlane's first quilt contribution was in memory of Doug MacFarlane. Anne MacFarlane was Doug's wife and their children are Charlene, Donna and Joanne. The machine quilting is done by Aline Chan, a family friend. Ms. MacFarlane and Ms. Chan are cancer survivors themselves. This year's quilt is titled Against the Current and is meant to encourage people to fight breast cancer. At times it might be easier to go with the flow but families and friends are there to help battle back against the current. |

| Every year for the past five years, the MacFarlane family of Dundas gets together to make a quilt for "The Quilt", a Canadian breast cancer support program. The mandate of the project is to "Let no one face breast cancer alone".
The Quilt raises funds to provide emotional, informational and physical support for breast cancer survivors, their family and friends, nationally. Many quilts are donated by individuals or groups and they are auctioned off to raise funds for support programs. Donated quilts are sent all across Canada to be viewed. Quilting marathons are also held in several communities. As soon as one quilt is completed, the MacFarlane family begins planning the quilt for the following year. |

| With a combined effort of the Hamilton, Ancaster, Hilltop and Mountain quilt guilds, Brenda organized, collected and delievered 315 placemats to the VON. The VON was very grateful and very impressed with the donation
. Brenda plans to collect the placemats again next year. The ladies at the VON were very happy to see her with the final 3 large bags of placemats after HQG's potluck dinner. |
| Here is an e-mail Brenda received from the VON
I received a pleasant surprise this morning when I listened to my voice mail. There was a most heart warming thank you from a Meals On Wheels client who indicated that the Christmas placemat that she received this year made her day special. She liked it the most of everything that she received and plans to use it "everyday". Once again, our thanks to you and the guild. May your New Year be bright.
